The Lucille Rader Education Foundation Scholarships were designed
to honor female Catholic students from schools within the Archdiocese
of Los Angeles who have demonstrated excellence in academics and
athletics as well as good moral character.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be practicing Catholic, female seniors attending Catholic schools with
a minimum, unweighted grade point average of 3.2 (weighted 3.5), who compete in a team
sport and are of good moral character.
When is the application deadline?
The 2024 scholarship award has passed.
The 2025 scholarship details and deadlines will be announced in February 2025.
How many scholarships are awarded? How much money is awarded?
Each year we award two scholarships, each valued at $40,000, distributed as 4 annual
installments of $10,000. To maintain the annual award, recipients are required to
maintain a minimum college G.P.A. of 2.75 and submit proof of good standing at
the end of each academic year.
How are winners selected?
In order to be considered for the scholarships, each application must be completed and
submitted on time. In addition, each applicant must meet the academic and athletic
requirements. Then, all eligible applicant essays are read by at least three reviewers
who assess their merit, the quality of the essay, and how well each applicant reflects
the Foundation's ideals. It is important to note that the essay
is the most important criterion assessed by the evaluators. However, a student's
financial need will also be taken into consideration.
